Polling Lessons from 2024

The British Polling Council is holding an open event on 6th May where we will be exploring the lessons learned from the recent UK general election and its aftermath.

Practitioners from across the polling sector will be sharing the latest findings of their post-election analysis. Our speakers will reflect on the performance of the polls and the role polling can play in society today. Along the way, we’ll be reviewing the mood and behaviours of the electorate and setting this in historical and international context.

We’ll also be considering best practice when it comes to communication of opinion poll findings to key stakeholders and to the public at large.

The event will be held at Central Hall, Westminster. You can sign up here. For more information take a look at our 2024 General Election web page.

Please contact simon.atkinson@ipsos.com with any questions about the event.

Confirmed speakers include BPC President Jane Green, Will Jennings (University of Southampton), Miranda Green (Financial Times), Peter Kellner, Lord Hayward, Paula Surridge (University of Bristol), Chris Prosser (Royal Holloway, University of London) alongside the following BPC members: Keiran Pedley (Ipsos), Anthony Wells (YouGov), Jim Blagdon (More in Common), Robert Stuthers (BMG), Luke Taylor (Verian), Tyron Surmon (Find Out Now), Damian Lyons-Lowe (Survation), Patrick English (YouGov), Martin Baxter (Electoral Calculus).
